Am I an Artist?

April 5, 2024

Just as Picasso had his famous Blue Period, I find myself deeply immersed in art amidst life’s other pursuits.

Painting has been a passion of mine for some time, self-taught and driven by curiosity. Recently, I made the decision to expand my skills by delving into the world of drawing, seeking guidance through formal lessons. Even as I embark on this new journey, painting remains a cherished part of my creative expression.

To illustrate the depth of my commitment, I currently have four sketchbooks in rotation. My discovery of online art lessons, particularly those offered by Michael Markowsky at MarkowskyArt on Youtube, has been nothing short of transformative. Michael’s patient and candid approach to teaching has been invaluable, and I wholeheartedly recommend his channel to anyone seeking to enhance their artistic abilities.

Here, I invite you to join me on this journey of exploration and growth. As I share my experiences and progress, I’m filled with anticipation for what lies ahead.

My interests extend beyond art alone, encompassing facets of faith, literature, culinary arts, and the unpredictable paths life may lead me down.

If you choose to accompany me on this venture, I’m genuinely thrilled. Along the way, you’ll witness the unfiltered results of my artistic endeavors, whether they soar or stumble. Yet, amidst the journey’s highs and lows, my ultimate aspiration is progress. I welcome constructive feedback and am eager to learn from those who share this passion.

As for the question of whether I can rightfully call myself an artist, I turn to the dictionary for guidance, finding affirmation in its simple definition. And so, according to its pages, I proudly claim the title.
